MWH have now been awarded Projects at Dukinfield, Aston-Under-Lyne, Arnfield, Godley, Hyde and Wigan and Skelmersdale across the AMP8 Framework Agreement with United Utilities. We are looking to strengthen our Construction and Project delivery teams with Assistant Project Managers assigned to a project or section within our programme of work.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will support with managing a single project or section on a larger project. The APM will lead and have full responsibility for their project or section. Ensuring the project or section is completed safely, on programme, within budget and meets all the contract specifications. The APM will also support the PM in managing the client, customer, and all stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities

•           Promote exceptional SHEQ standards to direct and subcontracted work force.

•           Being aware of the need to satisfy customer requirements with the aim of enhancing the customers’ perception and satisfaction.

•           Maintain an appropriate practical knowledge and appreciation of all technical disciplines associated with delivering water and wastewater design and build projects.

•           Administration of the PMP at all stages throughout the project delivery process, i.e from tender handover to final completion.

•           To understand all aspects of the client contract and constraints and cascade to the team and supply chain.

•           Work with the PM and QS’s to ensure the project is delivered to programme and within budget.

•           To become proficient in the use of the clients’ digital platforms.

•           Ensuring at contract completion that all records referred to in the PEP are complete and available.

•           Ensuring that all site non-conformities are reported, and approximate costs identified.

•           Ensure that project outputs are cascaded and communicated as appropriate to design and construction project team members.

•           Manage accountability of internal and external stakeholders in relation to programme obligations.

•           Escalate to the Project Manager or QS any key project issues and risks with mitigation plans and actions.

•           Quality management and reporting to be in place and client KPI’s to be managed.

•           Continuous improvement against contractual key performance indicators.

•           Take a lead role in the project governance from a client facing perspective ensuring that all contractually required documentation is progressed with the PM.

•           Assist in the resource profiling of the project programme & project team.

 

About You

Essential:

•        Project Management experience working alongside the Project Management team in managing multi-disciplinary design and construction projects, in small standalone projects for sections of work on larger more complete schemes.

  • Proven track record in successfully delivering £1-10M projects or sections.

•           Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction, commercial, or engineering related discipline.

•           Excellent oral and written communicator with the ability to work in close partnership with clients, stakeholders, and end users.

•           Must be delivery driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives. 

•           Strategic, operational, technical and management skills

•           Knowledge of Construction Contracts, ideally NEC and/or IChemE, with ability to negotiate and administer 

•           Ability to present at Governance Reviews in a leading capacity

•           Risk & Opportunity Management experience

•           Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety

Desirable

•           Experience in water and waste water treatment plants

•           Chartered with and engineering, commercial, or construction institution

•           SMSTS / IOSH

•           CSCS Level 6+
