We are currently looking for an IT Support Technician to work alongside the existing ICT Support Technicians in the support and manning of the internal IT Helpdesk.  It should be noted that this position is Monday to Friday and based around a 40-hour week We welcome internal applicants who are interested in a new role and are keen to learn.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role will be the undertaking of the daily duties, such as: -

  • Provide 1st line support for PC Hardware and Software queries and log all queries through the Group Helpdesk System.
  • Set up and install any new equipment.
  • Perform any Software/Hardware installations and computer moves where required including logging of faulty equipment.
  • Check daily backup jobs.
  • Update and maintain Group's IT Hardware/Software register.
  • Be aware of how to access and execute the disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure system backup and restore plans are maintained for all business-critical servers and databases.
  • Ensure these procedures are tested on a regular basis.
  • At all times follow Group IT policy and procedure when carrying out duties.
  • Promote the helpdesk as the primary contact point between the IT department and the user community.
  • Ensure all reported problems are documented in the help desk data base and followed up with assigned personnel to ensure timely resolution of problems.
  • Ensure IT Support calls are being resolved in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Ensure all IT assets are appropriately documented, labelled and tracked

Qualifications

The successful candidate will need: -

  • To display a positive and proactive attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Either A Level or equivalent in an IT related subject or 2 years’ experience in an IT role
  • To work well to strict deadlines with the ability to cope well under pressure.
  • Be flexible with their working hours, to support the business requirements.
