What do you need from me?

The Engineering Team Lead will be responsible for the Marine Engineering activities based out of Expleo Preston offices in Bamber Bridge. You will have an excellent understanding of the Marine Engineering Services sector and associated customers.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to set and achieve high standards in the service Expleo provide to our customers. You will have a strong understanding of the importance of consistently obtaining results through a motivated and engaged workforce in a delivery focused environment.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Accountability and ownership of a high performing team, charged with consistently achieving and exceeding customer targets, in a time critical environment.
  • Provide customer management to ensure a highly effective relationship and ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Innovation and a desire to challenge the status quo where appropriate to ensure that the delivery team are consistently adapting to new challenges and positioned for growth
  • Support the Programme Delivery Lead to deliver the agreed business strategy with full Departmental commercial responsibility.
  • Capability development and business planning to deliver departmental growth.
  • Working with key stakeholders to identify opportunities and to construct proposals/bids, which address customer needs in a highly competitive market.
  • Management of staff and resources to achieve targeted objectives including, but not limited to, budgeted performance, employee development and Business Development.
  • Assessing and monitoring the performance of staff and arranging for training of personnel in accordance with company needs and in conjunction with the Capability Director and People Services Manager
  • Design Deliverables: Ensuring all design deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders during appropriate design phases to ensure coordination and functionality of design.
  • Project Support: Contributing to and supporting the entire project and product design cycle, from concept to construction and installation.
  • Technical Support: Providing Technical solutions and governance for the wider team.
  • Checking of 2D and 3D outputs.
  • Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.
  • Be aware of and ensure that safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented
  • Assist with the maintenance and improvement in quality standards of outputs.

Qualifications

  • The candidate is required to hold an NC/HNC or an equivalent qualification / experience in Outfitting/ Structural discipline subject.
  • Apprenticeship in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience.

Essential skills

  • Familiarity with shipbuilding/ship repair terminology and practices.
  • Be proficient in the use of one or more parametric/spec driven CAD system both in a 3D & 2D environment including FORAN.
  • Windchill
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good people management and able to build strong working relationships
  • Able to manage a busy workload as well as picking up adhoc duties when the need arise
  • Enjoys a busy a high pressure working environment 

Desired skills

  • Preferable T26 Experience

Experience

  • Experience in Design processes and procedures specifically within detail design (stage 2 modelling/stage 3 outputs) working on Naval or Commercial Marine projects (preferably naval shipbuilding projects/alternatively new build or major conversion packages) or similar.
  • Proven experience in an leadership position

  • KPI Ownership & delivery
